IIC Hydrographic Surveys in the Pacific Islands

posted in development by admin

The Pacific Ocean is the home to many Nations whose peoples and cultures are as  beautiful and diverse as their geography and coastlines.

The Pacific Islands are generally home to smaller populations whose economies are generally dependant on seaborne trade and often heavily influenced by seaborne and sea-based tourism. Therefore a good understanding of the nation’s bathymetry is vital for both safety of navigation for trade and the cruise line industry and sea based tourism.

IIC is privileged to be able to undertake work for a number of Pacific Islands clients, and clients who have a direct interest in safety of navigation or access to the islands. In Oct 19 IIC undertook hydrographic surveys in support of safety of navigation for one of our cruise line clients. This work being intended to provide new holiday destinations in the Pacific for the benefit of both the client and the local economy. The resulting data was also provided to the National Charting Authority for the purposes of updating the hydrographic charting for the area.
