IIC Elected to Vice Chair of AusSeabed.

On 04 November 2021 IIC’s Managing Director Australasia, David Crossman, was elected to the position of Vice Chair of the AusSeabed Steering Committee, the highest position possible for a non-Government representative.

AusSeabed is a very successful collaborative effort that brings together Australian Government, industry, science, research, hydrographic and the academic sectors with an interest in seabed mapping.

The AusSeabed mission is to "improve the awareness, coverage, quality, discoverability and accessibility of seabed mapping data through coordination and collaboration in the Australian region".

The AusSeabed success to date has been significant, and inaddition to its numerous other initiatives, in FY 2020/21 AusSeabed published an additional 2,006,503km2 of seafloor mapping coverage to the Data Portal, increasing the total coverage by 13.3% to 17,124,652km2.

The position of Vice Chair will be held for 2 years and will be an opportunity for David to serve this community and assist in advancing the marine knowledge and dataset for both Australia and the wider international community.
