Managing Director IIC Australasia Completes Tenure as AusSeabed Steering Committee Vice Chair

posted in development by admin

IIC’s Managing Director Australasia, David Crossman completed his 2 year tenure as the Vice Chair for the AusSeabed Steering Committee last night.

In his social media he stated “I was first exposed to AusSeabed in 2019 and was so impressed with the ambitiousness of it plans and the potential benefits of its intended outcomes, that I committed to the program and volunteered for the Steering Committee. After around three years as an Industry Representative on the Steering Committee including the last two years as the Steering Committees’ Vice Chair, it was my pleasure last night to hand these responsibilities on to a new team of enthusiastic and capable volunteers. This periodic, rolling, fixed term tenure of key positions on the Steering Committee provides new representation, fresh ideas and continued drive and is key to the continued success of this world leading Program.”

AusSeabed is an incredible collaborative effort that brings together Australian Government, industry, science, research, hydrographic and the academic sectors with an interest in maritime domain and seabed mapping. The AusSeabed mission is to "improve the awareness, coverage, quality, discoverability and accessibility of seabed mapping data through coordination and collaboration in the Australian region".

AusSeabed continues to exceed expectations and is a/the(?) world leading collaborative enterprise in this domain. David thanked IIC Technologies for supporting his participation in the Steering Committee and wished the AusSeabed Steering Committee and leadership continued success.

David suggested that If you have an interest in the maritime domain, seabed mapping or marine research, are an acquirer, holder or potential user of maritime data in Australia, then I encourage you to visit the website to see the fantastic progress this body is achieving, and get involved! If you would like to see a similar capability in your region, I strongly encourage you to visit the site and consider how this could be implemented in your region.
